MY FIRST THRIFTY THURSDAY!

This is my First THRIFTY THURSDAY!!

Please visit Leigh over at Tales from Bloggeritaville
and all of the other participants in Thrifty Thursday!!

First I want to show you the plates that I bought at the Christmas Tree Shops a few weeks ago. They were 90 % off the lowest sticker price!! I bought 10 of these white plates with a gold rim for 70 cents!! All 10 were 70 cents!! My Hubby laughed all the way to the car!!

Yesterday I mentioned to some that I was going to be shopping this morning at our local Volunteers of America Thrift Store. I have waited for this sale all month. The last Wednesday of every month is when EVERYTHING in the store is sold for HALF PRICE!! You heard me right....Everything for HALF PRICE!!!

I spent $29.18 and wait until you see what I got!!

This is my table full of goodies!! They do have a weird pricing system with items marked at 60 cents, 90 cents, $1.91 and $2.92!!

Lovely blue and green velvet ribbon for 90 cents each. Remember half price makes them 45 cents each!!

The plastic tissue box cover and the quilted divider tray will be for future craft projects. Check out the cute Tea Cup plate! It was $1.91 so for half price- 95 cents!

The yellow platter and the cup will go in my Kitchen. The cup did not have a matching saucer so I found a plain yellow one. I loved that precious Bear plate!! I collect Bearington Bears!

The bird house will be a future craft project.

This sweet Victorian parasol was $2.92. But remember half price!!

Loved this cute little vintage bowl with the cherubs.

This vase will find a home in my Craft Room. At last month's sale, I bought a lamp that is very similar to this!!
It was $2.92 originally!!

This mannequin is what I saw up on the back shelves when I entered the store with about 30 other people!! I almost flew other racks of clothes to get to it!! How much you ask???? 90 cents so yes, you got it.....45 cents at half price!! I felt like I was stealing!! LOL!!

Loved this cast iron door stop which was $1.91!! Again, 95 cents !! I just read an article about how collectible these cast iron door stops have become.

Here is my mannequin up close!

I HIT PAY DIRT with these babies!! When I saw these, I ran down the aisle. Thank God there was no one in front of me!! They would have been under my cart!! LOL! Too bad there wasn't any cups but a beggar can not be chosey!! The maker is J&G Meakin, England.
There is a crest with Romantic England on the top of it.

The small bowls were $1.91, the desert/salad plates were $2.62 . You can do the math for half price!

And the dinner plates were $3.93. I bought 4 of everything. I am envisioning a Christmas Tablescape using these and green chargers..........

Well, all of that was a mere $29.18!! I can't wait until next month!!

Below are some treasures that my MIL gave me the last time we visited her. I love these bottles because I collect all the glass ware in this pattern and I love this wonderful amber glass bowl on a pedestal with a white marble base!! Perfect for a fall display, don't you think????

Well, that is it for today. Please visit all of the others showing off their Thriftiness!!

Thanks for stopping by today and everyday that you take the time to visit me!!

Debbie

HAPPY REDNESDAY!!! EASTER DECOR

Happy Rednesday!!
Please hop right over to www.suelovescherries.blogspot.com to visit our lovely hostess Sue and all of the other participants in REDNESDAY!!!

Have you ever tried to find Red Easter decorations??? Well, it is not easy......... but I did find some things with red in them!!
Below is my desk in the Kitchen. The Easter Egg with the red cross in roses was made by my MIL for me over 20 years ago. It is in Polish but I have no idea what it says nor can I remember what she told me it says!!

These cute bunnies were a gift from a friend. See the RED tulip!!

The plate was a yard sale find and the Chickie box and the cute little basket were bought at The Christmas Tree Shop.
Close Up of the Polish Egg and an Easter plate.

This was my Kitchen window but when we made the patio into another room, we took the window out. The red vase was a clearance find at The Christmas Tree Shop for $1.00. I have white lights in it. The paper eggs are a set of three .

This is a close up of the larger one.

These sweet little tulips are made from eggs!! I run our church flea market and they were a donation. I knew that they would never survive the packing and move down to our church hall for the actual Flea market so I bought them.

Aren't they interesting?? And FRAGILE!!

Well, that's it for today! The local Volunteers of America Thrift shop on the last Wednesday of the month hold a half price sale. Everything in the store will be half price! I will be there when the doors open!! Hope to post some of the treasures that I find at the sale.

Thanks for stopping by today and everyday that you take the time to visit me!

HAPPY EASTER!!

Debbie

I seem to keep showing you a lot of my PINK things but honestly, I DO have other colors in my house!! I collect "made in Japan" Luster Ware. This is a tea cup and saucer with a matching desert plate that I found at a flea market. I love the colors in these pieces. I have quite a few pieces in these shades displayed on a corner shelf at the top of my stairs. My Living Room is peach and so are the walls going up the stairs so that prompted me to collect items in these shades. I love the sheen that luster ware has!

Yes, I actually did find a bunny dressed in peach! It is such a hard color to find nowadays!!

I love the gray in this!

The desert plate up close!

Made in Japan on the bottom

See, I don't have only PINK in my house. But I seem to have a lot of pink, don't I????

Please take some time to visit Sally and than link onto all of the other participants in BLUE MONDAY!!

I worked this weekend and then went to a hockey game on Sunday so I didn't have a lot of time so this will be a short post for today.

I decorate my Powder Room from November until the end of February with Snow Buddies but now it is turned back into a Victorian Shabby Romantic looking Powder Room. For Easter, I do have one cute little Snow Buddy hatching out of an egg on display in my Powder Room. I found these cute blue eggs to match at a flea market.

We were visiting my MIL and my hubby was rummaging through the cellar looking for canning jars and spied this little beauty!! Needless to say, she came home with us! LOL!!

Come back and visit next week to see how I dressed her up a bit........

Hmmmm..... maybe some pearl earrings, a ruffled collar.............

PINK SATURDAY- EASTER DECORATIONS and DEDICATION TO MY MOM

HAPPY PINK SATURDAY!!

Thanks once again to Beverly @ www.howsweetthesound.typepad.com. for hosting this wonderful Blog Party!! Please visit her and all of the other participants this week and enjoy some lovely PINK postings!!

Also linking with Lynette @ www.lynetteslam.blogspot.com for Easter Decor Day!!

I am dedicating this post to my Mom. If you could please go to my playlist and click onto MAMA to listen to for this post as it is also dedicated to her. On March 29th, it will be 6 years since she is missing from my life. For the 17 years that she lived after my Dad passed away, all she wanted to do was to be with him. She was never the same after he died but she did live a good life for those 17 years. She sold her home ( my childhood home) 3 months after he died, only having stayed one night in it after his death. She then lived with my sister for a short time until she was able to move into a Senior Citizen apartment. It was the best thing she ever did because she found something there that she never had before........FRIENDS! My Mom worked her whole life and her last day of work was the day we found my Dad dead at home. I had that awful task of pulling her out of work that day to tell her my Dad was gone. As she lay in the inpatient Hospice unit, I told her it was time to go to be with my Dad. She was in a coma but opened her eyes to look at me as if to say Thank you for telling her to go to finally be with the love of her life! She passed away quietly , with grace and dignity in her sleep 2 hours later.

She loved Spring and Easter so this post is for you, MOM!!

Today, I am going to take you into my Dining Room to show you my Easter decorations in that room and one of my 2 Easter trees!! Below is my very PINK Easter tree! It was a Christmas Clearance item at Wal Mart 2 years ago. At 75% off, it was a mere $5.00 and it is a prelit tree!!
I added some Easter egg lights and a whole bunch of Easter ornaments!

I covered the base of the tree with some Easter grass. The bright pink and yellow plastic Easter Bunnies were mine as a child. I am not going to tell you how old they are. HA!

This sweet little Bunny below was a yard sale find for a buck! And the small one was a gift from a friend!

The following pics are close up's of the tree.

Below is one of my Easter vignettes. The Easter carolers are from The Christmas Tree Shop. I bought them last year for $2.99 a piece!!

This is my buffet with my Easter Village on top of it. This village I bought about 10 years ago at JoAnn's Fabrics. The pic on the shelf above the buffet is Joe's maternal grandmother's wedding pic. The DR set is hers.

This white tree was a Christmas Clearance buy for $2.00 at a local store.

Below are close up of my Easter Village!

This cute little Bunny was a gift from a friend.

Below is a Close up .

Below is the top of my Hutch. The Dining Room Set was inherited from Joe's ( my hubby) maternal Grandmother. She passed away the year before we were married and a note was found stating that since he was her favorite grandson, he could pick anything in the house. We picked the Dining Room Set which was in a Blonde stained finish. Joe's one uncle redid it in a fruitwood stain for us as a wedding gift. We later found out that the note was found in the drawer of the hutch.

I collect Moss Rose China. The "Made in Japan" era kind. Joe's Grandmother's name was ROSE so this is a tribute to her.

This is my chandelier which was given to us by one of Joe's Aunts who did not want to use it in her home. I just recently added the lamp shades which I bought at The Christmas Tree Shop , complete with the crystals on them, for $1.99 a piece!! I do plan on embellishing them a bit more when I find some time. I hung some Easter eggs from it!

The above pic is looking into my Living Room. The dividers that you see resemble french doors. They are window inserts from old doors. I bought the one on the right at a yard sale for $5.00. It took me 5 years before I found a matching one at a flea market for $20.00. Joe hung them on hooks from the sofett that separates the DR from the LR. On the Living Room side, I hung peach lace curtains as my LR is PEACH!

Next week on PINK SATURDAY, I will share with you pics of my Easter Decorations in my Living Room and my other Easter Tree.

Thanks for stopping by today and every day that you take the time to visit me!!

Hugs,
Debbie
