Changing things around a bit..........

You may remember my china cupboard in my Den looking like this for Christmas and Valentine's Day..........

Well, it was time to get those snowmen and skaters out of there in an attempt that maybe once I put them away, I would be also putting Winter weather away!! ( Let's keep our fingers crossed, huh?)

And this is what It looks like now....

I put some of my red and blue transfer ware pieces in the china cupboard. I liked the string of lights that I used in there at Christmas so I left them in with the battery operated Candles .

I do have some tea things in here.....

Sugar Bowls and Creamers.....

And Tea Cups and Saucers....

See the mini blue and white tea cup and saucer on the porcelain vintage stand??

Sorry this is a bit blurry but see the mini blue and white tea pot.....

And a few weeks ago I showed you the Tea Pot that Joe bought me for my Birthday and then I went and bought the matching Sugar bowl.......

Well, this is where it found a home for now........

I liked having my little Candy bar set up on my Kitchen desk/hutch for Christmas and Valentine's Day so I decided to leave some of the glass jars with candy out.

See my red and white tea cup and saucer filled with lollipops???

And see the little yellow tea pot???

I would like you all to visit my friend, Lisa Lewis, Victoriana Lady, over at her new blog, All Things Victorian, www.victorianaladylisa.blogspot.com

She has just started her new Blog and is just getting the hang of it and I would so appreciate it if you gave her a warm Welcome to Blogland!! And maybe sign on to Follow her!

I had mentioned before that we would be repainting our Kitchen this weekend. Well, that is not going to happen. I am still putting away Valentine's Day, want to decorate for Easter , never got or picked out the paint colors and still have to strip the old border off. In other words, I am so not ready to redo the Kitchen. Plus, my back has been giving me some major problems with pain radiating down my left leg. So I think climbing up and down a ladder would not be wise at this point.
So, once again, it is being put off until we are on vacation at the end of May. Then we will have whole week and hopefully we can also get the Kitchen cupboards repainted too since the weather SHOULD be warmer by then!!
So I will use my 4 days off this coming weekend to catch up on a lot of things around the house and Joe will be off from work to give me a hand.

I am linking up to these great parties:

Tea Cup Tuesday

Tea Time Tuesday

Tea Pot and Tea Thingie Tuesday

Table Top Tuesday

Rednesday

Thanks for stopping by today and everyday that you take the time to do visit me!!

My Guardian Angel

Sorry I am a bit late for Pink Saturday but I have been busy putting away Valentine's Day decorations and I have also been having a problem with my back. This is nothing new as I have Scoliosis with nerve compression.
First, I want to show you some wonderful things that were gifted to me by my good friend Anne Marie.

Look at these darling Bird Figurines!

Don't you just love the Pink Roses on them!

And I LOVE the crackled appearance of the Porcelain, making them look aged!

And this darling little planter that Anne Marie says she bought in the Dollar Store!
Sorry there is a glare reflecting off the pot!

It has a peachy background with this gorgeous pink rose!

Today, Feb. 26th , is a date I will never forget. My Dad passed away 24 years ago today.
But he lives on in my heart forever.

Last year I dedicated a post to him, my Guardian Angel. Please click HERE to revisit this very special tribute to my Dad and to learn all that he taught me.

I have been taking a break from posting and visiting for a bit. I have a lot to do and a lot is going on. I went to the Rheumatologist and I may not have Lupus. I am positive for thyroid antibodies which is caused by an auto immune disease attacking the Thyroid. So I had more blood work done to determine if I will need Thyroid medication. But this could explain my increased fatigue,
an increase in my Cholesterol and Blood Pressure and also an increase in muscle aches and cramping that I have been experiencing since the beginning of this year.
So I am waiting for the results....

Hope all is well with all of you and if you missed the winners of my Giveaway, please click HERE
to see who the winners were! My printer is down so as soon as I get it going again and can print the address labels out, I will get out the prizes to the winners!!

Please visit Beverly to see all the other Pinkies for Pink Saturday!

Thanks for stopping by today and everyday that you take the time to visit me!

I so wish I could have send a gift to everyone who follows and comments on both of my blogs.
And to all of those that visit but maybe who do not have blogs and don't feel like leaving a comment , I wish I could send gifts to all of you too!

I can not remember what life was like without blogging and I want to THANK all of you for your Friendship!! It means so much to me!

Speaking of Friendship...........

Joe and I had a little informal get together of our dearest friends yesterday.

These are the people who are so important to us and we wanted to celebrate Friendship and some personal accomplishments with them!

Standing is my dear friend Anne Marie and her husband Tony.

We met at Hockey games and found out that Anne Marie and I have so much in common.... a love of Victorian style and we are both nurses. Ann Marie is an accomplished baker and on weekends, has many orders for her cakes and other desserts!

Seated at the table are Rose Marie and her husband Joe ( unfortunately I only got his back in the photo)

I met Rose Marie and Joe in Belvidere , N. J. at the town's Victorian Days Celebration. Rose Marie is Victorian Rose, a crafter of beautiful Victorian things for over 20+ years and her hats are to die for! I found out that they only lived about 10 minutes from me. Rose Marie has battled Breast Cancer for over 25 years and recently had her hip radiated and received chemo before Christmas for spots in her liver. She is an inspiration to all of us!

And John Grant and Lisa Lewis, aka Victoriana Lady!

Lisa is currently experiencing much acclaim and exposure because of her Victorian programs and knowledge of the Victorian Era. She has just signed a book deal and just filmed a segment for the Discovery Science Channel's show Oddities.
John Grant 's book "Final Thoughts" will be out at the end of this year and is an accomplished photographer. They met on the internet, realized that they had so much in common . Formed The Passion Projects, their company that is involved in so many things including managing Themed Tea's at the Frederick Stegmaier Mansion and also discovered that they are soul mates!!
Soon I will be helping Lisa start her own blog so please stay tuned!!

We ordered pizza, had cake and apple pie for desert and just spent a nice relaxing afternoon with good friends!!

We are all members of The Victorian Friendship Society of Northeastern Pa.
Joe and I are so blessed to have these wonderful friends in our lives!

And we woke up to this!!!

After a high temp. of 60 on Friday and melting of almost all of the snow and ice that we had, here we go again!

It was supposed to be rain and sleet mixed in but colder temps. prevailed and 6-8 inches is predicted until mid morning!

Joe is very glad that it is a holiday for mail carriers today!

I may not be around Blogland too much in the coming weeks. I will be taking Valentine's Day Decorations down, decorating for Easter and in two weeks, Joe and I will be redoing our Kitchen..... Painting, putting a chair rail up, a new light fixture and new border! I am still keeping my Red color scheme and my new border is scalloped with a red background and yellow rose with green leaves! I have had it for 2 years!!

Again, Congrats to the winners!!

Few Pinks Here and There.....

Happy Pink Saturday!

Sunday night I will be announcing the winners in my Giveaway. For details , please click HERE

I just wanted to show you a few pinks that I have around the house....

For my Birthday, you may remember that Joe bought me a cute 13 inch TV for my Craft Room.
I had to move some things around to put my new TV in it's perfect spot. I wanted to use a shelf that I had from my vendor booth so I had to move this table somewhere.....

It ended up in the guest room which I now call the "Ever Changing Room"....

I moved the shelf into the Craft Room where the table had been and it created the perfect place for my TV.......

So when I am sitting at my Craft Desk/table, I can look right over at my New TV which is the perfect size for this space. My oldest son could not ,for the life of him, understand why I wanted such a small TV.......

I used some of the Birthday money gifted to me by my son Jim and my daughter in love, Danielle to buy the DVR player that the TV is sitting on. Now I can watch a movie or listen to CD's while I am dabbling in my Craft Room........

This is a cute little tray that I have in display in the Craft Room......

I thought I would show you some of the ornaments on my pink Valentine's Day tree.....

And if you missed my previous post, these are my recent Thrift Store finds......

I was so excited about them!!

I want to thank all of you who commented about me not feeling well. I want to let you know that I am feeling better and the pain I was having is gone at the present time. I tend to get a bit worried whenever I get right sided pain as this was the symptom I had that lead to the discovery of the tumor in my right ureter. But should it return, I will have it checked out, I promise!
I do have an appointment this week with my Rheumatologist so hopefully, I will find out if some of the fatigue I have been experiencing is related to the tentative diagnosis of Lupus.

Again, I will try to visit but I am having some of my dear friends over on Sunday for an informal get together so it will be a busy weekend. Next week, I will start to take down my Valentine's Day decorations.

And have I told you that the snow is melting fast here and it has been in the 50's for a few days!!

Remember to visit Beverly and all the other Pinkies!!

Thanks for stopping by today and every day that you take the time to visit with me!

Hugs,
Debbie

Thrift Store Finds!

Hello! I had to go and pick up some prescriptions today so I thought I would stop in my favorite Thrift Store, Volunteer's of America.

I like to go for the Last Wednesday of the Month Half Price sale. I must admit that I have not stopped in for some time and I found out that on every Wednesday, until further notice , the entire store will be Half Price except for Brand New items.

Of course, being Thursday, I missed the Half price sale.
But look what I found.......

These were on an end cap . There were also some cereal bowls and some desert plates. A woman stopped as I was putting these in my cart and asked if I had bought the dinner plates too. My hear sank as there were no dinner plates there!
She told me there were a lot of other pieces last week. I guess I stayed away too long!

As you can see the price on the cup is $1.31. Same price for the saucer. There were several more saucers left but no more cups.

Now the creamer and sugar were $6.96 each. Slightly more than I would usually pay but they are in excellent shape almost appearing brand new and the marking on the bottom is A.J.Meakin Ironstone, Made in England. So I know this was a decent price.

I love the scene and the shape of them....

Junkin Finds Friday

I have to apologize for not visiting everyone lately. I just have not been feeling well lately. I find that I am very tired and since Tuesday, some of my old GI problems have decided to rear their ugly head. I have Post Gall Bladder Syndrome. Even though I have had my Gall Bladder removed, certain foods bother me causing me to have Right sided pain as if I grew a gall bladder back. I have actually been good with this for some time but it has started up again . So I am waiting to see if a Low Fat diet helps decrease the pain and if not, it is off to the Dr. I go and most likely that will mean a CT of the abdomen and an Ultrasound. I have had so many of these in the past that I can scream right now.
I don't know if all this is being aggravated by the Lupus........

So I am sorry for not visiting but my heart just isn't in it right now but I will try.....

Hugs,
Debbie

Chocolate Lover's Tea at the Mansion!

On Saturday, I had the pleasure of attending the Inaugural Tea, A Chocolate Lover's Tea, at the Frederick Stegmaier Mansion.

The mansion will now be hosting several Themed Tea's throughout the coming year. All of this is the idea of The Passion Projects.
The Passion Projects is the company formed by my dear friend, Lisa Lewis, Victoriana Lady, and John Grant.

The event started with Victoriana Lady , greeting everyone at the front door of the mansion .
She then checked the seating chart and informed each guest where they would be sitting for the Tea. The Ladies and Gentlemen's Parlors, the Dining Room and the Library were all set with tables to acommodate the 50 guests that attended Saturday's Tea. There were such a response that a second Tea was added on Sunday and both Tea's sold out and each had a waiting list!!

Our Victorian Society Group would be seated in the Library.

This is what our tea cups and china looked like.
See the rose petals scattered on the table???

Here is the mansion's owner, Joe Matteo , serving the first course of our Tea.

Sorry it is a bit blurry but will you look at this?????
That is Devonshire cream in the crystal glass ( shot glass!) in the center of the plate. To the right is strawberry cream and to the left is apricot jam. There is a chocolate dipped chocolate chip and cranberry scone and what you can't see is a heart shaped cookie.

Then we were served a salad which I forgot to take a pic of.

This is the light streaming through the stained glass window that we were seated by....

This is the reflection of the ceiling and chandy is the mirror above the fireplace in the Library....

Next comes the soup which was a potato soup and our Tea Sandwiches....
Don't you just love how it was served on the silver platter.....

Okay, I am not sure of the exact names of the sandwiches but in front of the soup was a baked bread which various cheese on top. to the right was chicken salad ( which melted in your mouth) sprinkled with bacon on a heart shaped piece of bread. Behind the soup was a cucumber and butter sandwich and to the left was salmon salad rolled in chocolate bread.
All were to die for!

During our Tea, Victoriana Lady visited each room and first told us about the history of Afternoon Tea. Then she presented us with several items of the Victorian Era and we had to guess what they were used for.

Victoriana Lady is well versed in Victorian mourning and the glass vial that she is holding up is a Tear Catcher Bottle. You would catch the tears you shed for a loved one after they passed on. She also told us that they were used by the wives of soldiers who were gone off to war. When they returned, the wives would show their soldier husband's how many tears they shed for them...

Next on the menu came what essentially was a Chocolate mousse type creation topped with cream and shavings of chocolate served in a demitasse cup!!

Check out the chocolate covered strawberry....... wearing a tuxedo!!!

I love the pattern on the china!!

This 2 tiered silver caddy hold these delicious creations and served 2 of us. on the top tiers were 2 types of Chocolate Truffles.
On the bottom tier , were the strawberries and a Godiva Chocolate Pecan Caramel cookie.

Then we were served Spiced Hot Chocolate Tea!

Look at that beautiful Chocolate Pot!!

For the recipes for the Godiva Chocolate Pecan Caramel cookie and the Spiced Chocolate Tea, you can click HERE
This will take you to Chef Jody Klocko's site on the Food Network.com.

These recipes were his gift to us and when he visited each room after this last course was served , he received a huge round of applause!

Chef Jody Klocko also made two chocolate gift creations that we were free to buy to take home.
The boxes were filled with Chocolate truffles.

I bought a Chocolate Heart shaped box filled with truffles.

May I add that Chef Jody Klocko has been featured on the Food Network, worked for Godiva Chocolates and is an award winning Chef!

This is the amazing trio that make a visit to the Frederick Stegmaier Mansion such a fantastic experience!

Jody Klocko, Lisa Lewis and Joe Matteo, owner.
I am so proud to call them my friends!
Congrats to all of you, including John Grant, for a magnificent job of orchestrating such a wonderful event!!

The mansion is also a B&B. This is the Amelia Suite which has it"s own Sitting Room!

Photo Courtesy of John Grant, photographer

Upcoming Tea's at the Mansion will include:

A Civil War Tea

An Antique Appraisal Tea

A Titanic Tea

A Mother and Daughter Tea

I want to wish my good friend, Lisa, good luck as she is traveling to Manhattan this week to film for the Discovery Channel's Show Oddities. She is going to be featured in an upcoming show!!
How exciting!!
