Great Buys and Craft Room Tea Cup and Rose Tree

Today I want to show you some new things that I recently bought but first I want to thank all of you for your kind words of support and understanding in regards to my Tribute to my Mom on the anniversary of her passing.
Your words mean more to me than you will ever know!

If you missed, Remembering my Mom, please click HERE

First up is this sweet pair of birdies! Joe bought these for me using his comp points at Mohegan Sun Casino. They will find a home in my Living Room.

Next are 2 darling tin plaques that I bought at a Market Place that recently opened up in an old WalMart store. They closed one WalMart when they opened a new Super WalMart down the street. I will have more things to show you later on in the week that I bought at the Market Place.
These were $7.00 a piece.

Then I went to the end of the month Half Price sale at my favorite Thrift Store, Volunteer's of America.
I bought these cute dishes.

The dinner plates came out to 45 cents a piece with half price and the tea cups, saucers and creamer were only 30 cents each.

I loved the pattern on them. I thought they would be cute for a Tea for Two or they might find a home in my Craft/Sewing Room.

Later in the week, I will show you more of my buys from the Half Price Sale.

Now you know I LOVE trees. To decorate trees that is.

After all, I had 14 Christmas trees this year. See my sidebar for pics if interested.

I had several Valentine's Day Trees and now I have Easter Trees.

I wanted to leave up the 6 foot slim tree in my Craft Sewing Room. I love the way a tree looks in there , lit at night , casting a warm glow.....

So I decided to decorate my Craft Room tree with roses and tea cups and leave it up year round.
I will re- decorate it for Christmas , of course!

Now am I crazy or what???????

The pink ribbon with a gold sheen to it was purchased at Micheal's after Christmas for 75% off.

There are silk rose lights on the tree that I bought many years ago for Christmas. I also stuck pink and white roses into the tree.

Two white feathers and a spring flower spring at the top with a Doll's Head that has the same pink with a gold sheen to her hat.

Just a few ornaments..... regular tea cups that I do not have saucers to match....

Some actual tea cup and tea pot ornaments....

Pink tulle is wrapped around the tree for garland....

Butter Fly ornament clips I bought at 75% off at Target this year after Christmas..... They were $1.25.

A Seed packet ornament that I won last year in a giveaway from Marydon over at
Blushing Rose.

Do you see the beautiful spider on the tree? That is from my dear friend, Anne Marie. I will tell you the story of the spider in a later post.

A lamp and a mouse in a tea cup ornament...
And I love the church ornament trimmed in pink.... reminds me of summer weddings....

Another butterfly.....

And there she is...... My Craft Room Tea Cup and Rose Summer Tree!!

I know..... it is an addiction!

Now I want to show you this sweet little girl's dress I bought for half price making it $3.00!!

Do I have any little girl's in the family????? Nope!!

But I am thinking maybe a tree skirt for my Tea Cup and Rose tree????
What do you think????

I have been playing around in the Craft room....

I bought this mirror at a flea market some time ago for $1.00. I replaced the message board that I had in this spot originally, draped some sheer pink fabric for a curtain effect and added some of the ornament doll heads that I collect.

I also hung a stained glass flower plaque and I love the reflection of the tree in the mirror.

A few weeks ago, I showed you a wall tin that I bought on Ebay.

I hung it in the Craft Room above the closet doors. I love how the roses on it matches the border in this room.....

I also bought another one that I hung in my Living Room...

This one has a Bridal Style to it.....

I also loved the peach in it as peach is so hard to find nowadays.

These plaques were $12.00 plus shipping. I thought that was a great price.

Remembering my Mom

Seven years ago, on March 29, 2004, my Mom passed away.

She was 84 years old. This year, she would have been 91 years old.

I realized soon afterward that my sister and I were now the oldest living generation of our family.

Having lost both of our parents, we were now orphans.

My Mom was 19 years old when this pic was taken.
She was an only child. Her father had wanted a boy to name after himself. He still named her after himself, naming her Pauline since his name was Paul.

She then met the love of her life, my Dad, Frank.
What a handsome couple they made.....

They were married in 1942 on June 6th.

Shortly after they moved to Spartansburg, S.C. to so my Dad could be trained to be deployed in World War II. My Mom lived off the base.

He would be gone overseas for nearly 5 years. She lived with her parents until he returned.
They built a home next door to her parents and then they had their first child, my sister Barbara , in 1947.

My Mom was told that she would not be able to have any more children.

In Jan., 1958, over 10 years later, she gave birth to a second daughter...... Debbie.

This is my Mom and me in 1960. She was 41 years old in this picture.

My Dad and my Mom did everything together.

Picture was taken in 1974.....

They built another home in 1962 and they would live there until 1987.

Mom, with a rose given to her by my Dad from their garden, and my childhood dog, Ginger.

They had 6 grand children and another that my Dad would never see as my sister was pregnant when my Dad passed away in 1987.

Mom on the Santa Express with my Jimmy and Joey in 1986.

On Feb. 26, 1987, My Sister and I would find my Dad dead. He was retired but my Mom was still working in a Dress Factory in the mornings. He was 67 years old. I did the hardest thing I ever had to do in my life that morning.....go to where my Mom worked and tell her that her Frankie was gone.....

She would never be the same.

She sold their dream home 3 months later and moved into a Senior Citizen Apartment. She could not bear to live in that house without him.

She went on with life and enjoyed her grandchildren.

But there was a sadness in her eyes that never went away.

Mom and my Joey and Jimmy at the airport when we were waiting for our flight to Disney World.

She would see grandchildren graduate high school, college, marry and have children of their own....

She enjoyed her family and the friends that she had made while living in her apartment but something was missing from her life.

In Feb. of 2004 , when she entered the hospital with pancreatitis and sepsis, I knew she would never return to her apartment.

She lived for another 8 weeks during which my sister and I visited the hospital twice a day and watched her die a little bit every day.

Finally, on March 26, 2004 , we were able to move her from the hospital to an Inpatient Hospice unit. She had been in a coma since Sat., March 27.On March 28, I was the last one visiting but before I left her, I told her it was okay to go, that Barbara and I would be okay and that it was finally time to return to my Dad's side, where she so desparately wanted to be for the 17 years that she had lived without him. When I whispered this to her, her opened her eyes and looked at me one last time. I knew she had heard and understood me.

I left her at 11 pm , went out and sat in the car in the parking lot, called my sister and told her what I had said and that Mom had opened her eyes and I believed that she understood me.

At 1 am, 2 hours later , on March 29, 2004, I received the call that my Mom had passed away quietly in her sleep. Peacefully, pain free and with the utmost dignity.

She was finally with the only man she ever loved........her Frankie.

The last picture taken of my Mom in Feb. 2004

I know that they are both watching over my family and my sister's until the day when we will be together again.

Thanks for visiting me today.

Debbie

The Last of my Easter Decorations and a Surprise Gift!!

The sun is out and melting all of the snow, 8-9 inches, that fell the other day!

If you missed my post on my Spring/Winter Wonderland, please click HERE

On Thursday, I received a surprise in the mail!

I was so excited as I opened the package!!

And look at this darling Tea Wallet!!

This was hand made by my very dear blogging friend, Mary!!

You can place tea bags and even sweetener or sugar packs inside and carry it in your purse so you can have your favorite flavor of Tea anywhere!!

Thanks so much , Mary!!!
I LOVE it!!

You can visit Mary at Here's Home

And tell her that I sent you over to say Hello!!!

I want to show you my favorite Easter Bunny!!

One I fell in love with a very long time ago!!

The Easter Bunny is no other than my hubby, Joe!! LOL!!

He played the Easter Bunny several years ago at an Easter Egg Hunt at the factory where he worked before he became a Letter Carrier!!

Joe brought this cute Bunny home for me from Mohegan Sun Casino.
He cashed in some of his comp points.
He sings " Here comes Peter Cottontail" and the propeller flashes Easter greetings!
I think you can make out Happy Easter!!

Today I am going to share the Easter decorations in my Dining Room.

I have already showed you my Dining Room Easter Tree!

And some of the Bunnies underneath it!

This is a little vignette that I set up in the marble pedestal next to the tree....

My Easter Tea Station which I featured a week ago for Tea Tuesday....

Victorian Bunnies.....

Eggs hanging from my Chandy!!

More Bunnies.....

The top of my Dining Room Hutch.....

Easter Carolers from The Christmas Tree Shop.....

And this is my Easter Village. I bought this many years ago at Jo Ann Fabrics and have been lucky enough to pick up more pieces at yard sales and flea markets over the years!

This year, I placed it on a green tablecloth and added Easter straw.....

The tree stump on the right side is from my Christmas village and I thought it would look cute to place my Tree House on top of it.....

You can't see it in the pics but the houses do light up.....

I do have a bit of Easter in all of the rooms downstairs.....

This is a little vignette in my kitchen using Easter reds and yellows....

Yes, I do have one Easter Snow Buddy in my Powder Room....

Joe said because I left this one Snow Buddy out that is why we had that last snow fall!!

LOL!!

And in my Den I set up this little Easter display on one of my end tables....

The purple and pink plastic eggs were mine as a child. They are banks that my parents used to fill at the start of Lent and then I got to empty them on Easter!!

The 3 plastic Bunnies were also mine as a child!

A Happy Spring sign on the door to our Storage Room!

Once again, I am going to revisit my childhood Easter basket. Last week, many commented that they were surprised that I still had it.

Here is a close up of it......

And , look what I found!!
This is a picture of me with my Easter basket. You can see by the date on top of the pic it was taken in April, 1961!!
50 years ago when I was 3 years old!!

The bow that is on the left side at the bottom is still on the basket!!
Wish I had that Bunny too!

In one of my posts this week , I showed you some of the treasures I found on a recent trip to the Christmas Tree Shop.

I bought 2 nests for $2.99 each.
The blue one found a home in my Den along side some pretty blue birdies!

And I created a Spring vignette in my Dining Room using the pink one on top of another pedestal stand.

Okay, I know this was a lot to share with you this week and I hope I didn't bore you.
