A Couple More Projects.......

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July Holiday!

Is it hot enough for all of you?? It's in the 90's here!!

I am so very honored to have my post on my End Table Transformation be the most viewed post over at last week's Make It Pretty Party hosted by Kathryn at
The Dedicated House!!

Thanks so much , Kathryn!!

This is a fairly new party but loads of fun and inspiration so please check it out and join up to party!!

I was lucky enough to catch this sweet butterfly on my Cone Flowers that other day.....

And back to the 4th of July....

This is my youngest son, Jim, enjoying watermelon!

Here is a close up of his plate!!

Yep, he DID eat all of that by himself!

LOL!!

That's my Baby Boy!

Yes, those are paper plates. Shame on me but I had to go to work the night of the 4th!!
Am I forgiven?

Last week, Joe and I went to a local Antique Shop and I came across this peach and black cameo necklace ........

It was 75 % off and was $3.00!

I also remembered that I bought this lingerie bag awhile back. I hope you can see the stitching....

And here is the necklace and the bag on Minerva!

Now on to some projects...

A friend of mine asked me if I could use 2 bird cages that she didn't want. Needless to say, OF COURSE, I COULD USE THEM.....

Here is one of them before I got out my spray paint....

I painted it yellow and now , finally, I have a bird cage that I was able to use with an antique bird cage stand that I have had for some time now....

All the others I had were too heavy and they would tip over....

The paint I had matched perfectly with several yellow pieces I had bought on clearance in Michael's....

This is my little Tea Table in my Guest Room....

The small yellow bird cage on the table came from Michael's....

So did this yellow dress form and bird....

I just love pink and yellow together....

I haven't made up my mind as to what color I will paint the other bird cage.....

Maybe pink......

At the same antique Shop where I bought the cameo necklace, I also found these......

I have been looking for old sewing machine drawers and these babies were only $5 and $7 !!

I put a primer on them and I will show you what they look like soon ....

I also decided to paint this shelf that I had for some time.

You can see that I paid $2.00 for it at a flea market....

Stay tuned for the "after" pictures.....

Now you have seen many pics of my patio in the back yard and may have wondered why I did not extend the awning the entire length of my house.

This is why......

We left some space open in case we had to get up on the roof......

Let me rephrase that...

In case, Joe had to get up on the roof!!

He had to hammer down some flashing ( spelling???)

I was standing down below to catch him if he rolled down the roof!

I thought you would get a good laugh out of that!!

LOL!!!

This old metal box was where milk bottles were placed when a milk man would deliver them to a home.
I have had this for years , using it for my garden tools and I decided that I would re -do it so I spray painted it with Rustoleum Primer....

I will also show you this at a later date....

Then I got to thinking about how faded my brick in the back yard looked......

Here, it looks white in places....

That was after Joe sprayed a weed killer in the cracks and the white did not wash out.....

He will not be using that weed killer anymore.....

These pavers have been here for almost 20 years and were really looking a bit ...well, crappy if I say so....

So I wondered how they would look if I spray painted the bricks with the primer .......

So far, so good......

So I decided to spray paint the whole thing with the Primer......

And here is how it came out......

What a difference......

I used 3 cans of Primer.....

It now matches the steps that I painted with the same paint that I used to create my faux brick patio floor.....

So what do you think???????

Then we bought another sheet of vinyl privacy lattice. We attached the lattice to our chain link fence several years ago but I want to block the sun in this one corner of the patio.....

We hooked it onto the fence, the awning and to hooks in the siding of the house.

Much better now......

Now I can sit there and my one neighbor who is behind me ,several doors down , can not see me sitting there.....

I am very happy with it....

And one more project that I did...

Before I refinished this hutch in my Den, I always had a string of lights in it.

These are LED battery operated lights that I bought at Target for 75 % off at Christmas time.....

I used 2 strands with 2 battery operated candles on each shelf.....

I like the way it looks at night with the lights on.....

I will not be posting on this blog until next weekend when I post for the annual
WHERE WOMEN CREATE party over at My Dessert Cottage.

I will be working in my Craft/Sewing Room all week to get it presentable to take pictures of it!!

Energizer Bunny is at it again! I don't know where you get your energy, but I would love to get me some !!!

As usual, all your projects are wonderful... I'm thinking of spraying some of my path way pavers - the top ones were older and faded and it bugs me! GREAT idea!

Hi Debbie, You are one of the busiest ladies I know and everything turns out so wonderful. Love what you did to the pavers and your birdcage is darling.
Great buy on the sewing drawers. They are on of my good sellers but getting harder to find priced right for resale.

Love your porch area with the lattice. So cottage cozy!

Looks like the 4th was lots of fun at your home.

Have a great week and happy creating.

Hi Debbie, lovely post! Thank you for sharing the great ideas and all the loving touches you've added to your home. Can't wait for the reveal on the little shelf, there is one just like it in my basement waiting for just the right inspiration. I can't tell whether it wants to be white, pink, aqua or maybe even black! Staying tuned for yours...that is after a visit to your Christmas site.

Wow! Flowers and the 4th and birdcages and shopping and decorating and killing weeds and painting the patio and painting sewing machine drawers... I can't believe how much you have going on! Glad you are getting everything done and have time to blog about it!

Hi Debbie,

You know how much I love your Secret Garden in the backyard! As the old saying goes, "Good fences make good neighbors." Sometimes it pays to have just a little bit of extra privacy. The "priming" you did on the faded pavers was brilliant -- just the right amount of color added without being too bright and it looks so natural because it's slightly uneven, you know, where some of the primer may have soaked in a bit more or a smidegeon less may have been sprayed over a spot. Way to go, Girlfriend! I hope you are able to enjoy your Secret Garden. In SE Wisconsin we had four days of blessed relief from the unrelenting horrible monster heat and humidity, but it's coming back. Already today much more humid (I feel it instantly, I just cannot breathe right in this kind of weather) and high of 87 today; tomorrow 97 and by the weekend we may hit 100 again. Wisconsin hitting 100 - again! We had several days of it in a row already. Unprecedented. My wish for you and yours are to stay cool, hunker down with your perennials and annuals (I know you are giving them excellent care), and emerge once again when the temperatures and dew points/humidity get back down to more rational levels for the Midwest!

Minica,
I hope you return to read this as this is the only way I could find to answer your question. I spray painted the bricks using Rustoleum Primer.found at Lowe's. There is no color name for it other then Primer. You can see in the picture of the can that it's cap is a rust color. That is the color of their Primer. I hope this helped and I hope you return here to see I answered your question!

Hugs,
Deb
