St. Patrick's Day Decorations 2013

I have started to take down and pack away my Valentine decorations and will soon start to decorate for Easter....

But since I really do not put any Easter decorations out in the Den, I decided that the Den would be the room that I decorated for St. Patrick's Day.

But first, I would like to THANK Laura over at I'm Not a Trophy Wife for featuring my post
Winter and Valentine Home Tour from last week's Favorite Friday Linky Party!

Please visit and maybe link up to Laura's Favorite Friday Linky party!!

Thanks again, Laura , for this honor!!

And I want to THANK Maria over at A Joyful Stamper for featuring my post
Winter and Valentine Home Tour from last week's Inspire Me Friday party!

Thanks so much , Maria!! I am so flattered!!!

Inspire Me Friday is an Anything Goes Party so please visit and maybe link up!!

Back to St. Patrick's Day decorations......

Last year was the first year in some time that I decorated a Tree for St. Patrick's Day....

With the three holidays of Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day and Easter falling so close to each other some years, I had decided to skip St. Patrick's Day decorating.

But last year, I decided to keep up the 4 foot Tree that was in the Den for Christmas and later for Valentine's Day and turn it into a St. Patrick's Day Tree while the rest of the house would be decorated for Easter.

The pictures that I have been showing you are of my St. Patrick's Day Tree this year....

I have added a few more things to it this year....

I went with green glittered shamrocks for the top of the tree that I bought earlier this year at the Christmas Tree Shop instead of a bow..............

And I added little Leprechaun hats that I bought at the Dollar Tree........

Along with some felt Shamrock cut outs, also from the Dollar Tree....

They worked well as ornaments......

I did have some St. Patrick's Day ornaments from previous years....

I also used 2 boxes of green Balls bought on Clearance after Christmas along with other darker green Balls that I had from other years............

I hung green beaded garland and green beads from the Tree like icicles....

And tucked some white and green St. Patrick's Day silk carnations from the Dollar Tree into the tree as well....

I wrapped a lace tablecloth around the base of the Tree......

And placed one of two pretty Shamrock plaques that I also bought at the Dollar Tree, on top of the table cloth with green beads and some green wire garland......

There are green and white lights on the tree.....

Those little plastic hats really light up when placed near a bulb......

It really brightens the room especially during this dark, deary Winter we are having......

Last year, the Tree was the only St. Patrick's Day decoration that I had and as I was packing away the skaters that were in the China Cupboard  for Christmas and Winter decoration, I remembered that I had some green dishes........

This is what the China Cupboard looked like decorated for Winter....

And this is how I decided to decorate it for St. Patrick's Day....

I had bought all the pieces that they had of this set of dishes at our Church Flea Market for a few dollars.....

So a dug them out and put them in the China Cupboard along with  2 of the very few pieces of green depression glass that I own......

Last year, I hung some St. Patrick's Day vintage postcards on the Tree but this year, I decided to display them in the China Cupboard  instead......

Recently ,I found another dinner plate for this set for $1.00 at a Thrift Shop.....

The depression glass bowl was also a Flea Market find....

The tea pot on this shelf, I bought at a yard sale......

I could not believe that I had found a matching Tea Pot!!

Now I had a Tea Pot for my 2 Tea Cups and Saucers......

And I fell in love with this elegant looking depression glass bowl at another Flea Market.....

I adore the gold trim......

I originally loved these dishes because they reminded me of Charles Dickens and A Christmas Carol.

But now looking at them in the China Cupboard, they also look Irish to me too!!

LOL!!

And I hung the second Shamrock plaque from the Dollar Tree in the door.....

Joe came home from the Casino the other day with this cutie pie!!

He bought this sweet Irish Lassie Bear for me using his Comp points......

When you press the red button there on her paw, she sings "When Irish Eyes are Smiling"!!

I love her dress!!

And what about those shoes!!

I placed dish towels that I will not be using in the Kitchen here along with a Vintage Lefton tea cup.....

And I moved this doll , all dressed in green , from the Dining Room into the Den........

Doesn't she look like an Irish Lass??????

I am thrilled with how the China Cupboard looks.....

I usually have my red and blue transferware dishes in this china cupboard.....

Painting it last Summer was one of the best thing I ever did.....

And I really do like how the green dishes look......

I also have a wreath that I made hanging on the closet mirrored door......

So those are my St. Patrick's Day decorations for this year in my Den.......

St. Patrick's Day is a big deal here in NEPA as a lot of Irish immigrants settled here in the early 1800's.

Scranton, which is only 15 minutes from me, hosts what is rated as  the 9th Largest and Best St. Patrick's Day parade in the Nation.  I watch it on TV as it gets way too crazy for me....

Catholics here are always granted a special dispensation to eat meat on St. Patrick's Day if it should fall on a Friday in Lent!!
Now you know it is a big deal here when that happens!!

LOL!!

I am quite anxious to decorate for Easter this year as I have a lot of new things.....

I hit pay dirt after Easter last year when they were unpacking Easter things from the back in Michael's that were marked down to 90% off!!!

Here was my loot from last year....

Some of this I gave to my friend Anne Marie.  It was a one for me , one for Anne Marie thing!!

And some things I used for Spring and Summer decorations like the wooden plaques in the first picture....

But I will have a lot of new things to play with this year, don't you think?????

Hi Debbie,
Your St. Patrick's decor is wonderful. Being half Irish, I love your dear treasures. The tree is perfect and I love seeing it at night lit up and glowing.
What great sale treasures you found for Easter too.

Have a great weekend and thank you for stopping by this morning.

Debbie- I love your sweet St. Paddy's Day decorations. I love that tree. What a great idea the green Christmas bulbs were on there. You have some beautiful Irish ornaments. I grew up in an Irish settlement in PA and I used to love the Holiday when I was a kid.

You have lots of Easter stuff coming up I see. That really is the time to buy - right after the Holiday- Have a wonderful weekend, Debbie- xo Diana

Hi Debbie!.. LOVE your St. Pats tree and decorations!!! I still have my Valentine's Day tree up, and got lovely compliments on it recently! I don't have the heart to take it down yet, so I don't plan to until I put my own St. Pat's decorations on it!.. LOVE your music, and am wondering HOW you kept it going on your site??? I thought both Playlist and Mixpod were done, over, and un-accessible??? Was I mistaken? My blog has been very quiet. )0: LOVE the Les Miserables song. Just saw the movie, and it was AMAZING!!! I cried SEVERAL times, but loved every minute of it! Did you see it yet? I will also be seeing the live play in May, and I am SO-oooo excited! Can't wait! Looking forward to what comes of the Oscars now.... Have a great weekend! ((hugs)) ~tina

Oh, Debbie, I just love your St. Patrick's Day tree and all the other decorations as well! I felt well enough Wednesday, Glenn's birthday, to go out for a few hours. Glenn, Rachel(grand daughter) and I went to lunch and stopped into Dollar Tree behind O'Charley's where we had lunch. I bought those same little leprechaun hats and one of the clover leaf plaques(the one with the letter and ladies bust on it). I have actually put a few things about in the LR, but haven't posted any pics yet. You gave me an idea with your beautiful doll and the cute musical bear. I have a little doll named Kelly that plays music as well. I'm going to get her out and make her feel important. Thanks for making me feel better with your pretty post!

Hey Deb,

I LOVE the china cabinet! The green just pops against the cream color. I have two of those plates that I picked up at Goodwill. With the two plates they also had some small juices glasses and four regular drinking glasses all in a green depression glass color.

The St. Pattys wreath is so cute. I think I will attempt one for my front door.

I cant wait to see what you do for Easter. I remember all those great deals you got last year from Michaels!

Hugs,
Lynn

Hi Debbie,

I love love LOVE your green dishes in the china cabinet, and so beautiful and cozy when lit up at night. I took a cue from you this year and when I took down my Christmas decorations I left the battery-operated LED mini string of lights across the back of the fireplace mantle. At night they add just the right amount of glow. Should have done that years ago! Your St. Patrick's tree is gorgeous, of course. So many one of a kind ornaments, I can't pick out a favorite, one is as pretty as the next. I especially like the silk Dollar Tree carnations you added -- there is just something about flowers on a tree that delights my eyes. Congrats on being featured 2X! That's wonderful!

Debbie, You have the most amazing patience to switch out all those decorations every holiday! Will you please come and do my house for me? Somehow I collect the things and they never get displayed properly. I'm looking at the button you have on the side of your blog with your favorite movie. I will be searching for it, as I do like Jane S. Happy St. Patty's Day! It will be easy to celebrate in your festive house. Linda

Debbie, your dishes made me smile because I grew up eating off a set like this. One of my nieces has what is left of these dishes now. She is the one who loves dishes like her auntie and also appreciates vintage things. I was so happy when she wanted to take all of my mom's dishes and many other things. She is darling, and it's such fun to see her enjoy these pieces of the past.
Thanks for sharing all your St. Paddy's Day decorations. Happy St. Patrick's Day! ~ Sarah
